What can KD Max do for you?
Assuming modest competency, in about 15 minutes or less KD Max can create a photo-realistic design you can show to your customer…a design that, together, you have composed. Obviously, complex designs or special features and lighting will increase the time involved, but you (and your customer) will still be delighted with the results obtained.
This is possible without specialist, and expensive, CAD training. Step-by-step you build the kitchen from room shape, through cabinets, to sink and decoration.
Simultaneously, the system generates a product schedule and various detailed working drawings which are ideal for the kitchen fitter, electrician and plumber. As standard, KD Max is installed with BTO-CAD (not unlike AutoCad), in which you can check and adapt these drawings…you can then print the drawings or export the files.
KD Max has at its disposal 5th generation Virtual Reality Technology created by YF Software. This technology enables you to walk freely through the kitchen you have designed and view it from every conceivable angle.
Also, the Virtual Reality function can render your design in a matter of minutes, creating superb photo realistic images for printing or, where preferred, emailing!
Any frequently used design can be saved as a template or global style and endlessly re-used for rapid designing, especially when the client is present. BACK
Can I customize the software?
The standard software is provided with an extensive library of cabinets, doors, worktops, kitchen appliances, decoration, et cetera. And, of course, you can freely adapt all object attributes with regard to dimensions, colour or structure.
But you can also optimize YOUR application of KD Max by allowing us to integrate your own preferences, models, and identity, into YOUR system. Our own design and modeling department can quickly customize your library to your specifications. Please contact us for a quotation, whether for a few ‘specials’ or a complete library. BACK
Can I set up my own library?
Unlike many other software products, KD Max is provided with an extensive and comprehensive library of colours, textures, stone products, tiles, door handles, et cetera. Most every conceivable kitchen can be reproduced but, increasing competition is compelling manufacturers to look for individual identities by which they can be distinguished.
If you require such unique entities incorporated into KD Max, they can be created as bespoke items and integrated into your system.
Please enquire about this service; KD Max is written in such a way that adaptations can be created comparatively quickly. Please ask for a quotation…it will probably cost far less than you imagine. BACK
Can KD Max be used in a network?
KD Max is sold as a single-user license and system security is monitored by a ‘dongle’ security device…meaning KD Max will only run on the machine into which the ‘dongle’ is plugged.
Establishments requiring 2 or more systems will require the appropriate number of stand-alone systems…these will NOT be networked.
Users who specifically require networked installations can obtain a no-obligation quotation on receipt of full network details. BACK
How do I create Realistic Images?
‘Click a few buttons’ is the simple answer! But, as with all graphics programs of this nature, lighting is the single, most important feature in producing the desired level of ‘photo-realism’ and can change a mundane design into something quite spectacular.
The process is referred to as ‘rendering’ and in order to create photo-realistic designs you can freely adjust the intensity, colour and direction of all sources of light or even activate extra sources of light to enhance particular areas.
If you want a sunlit kitchen, then you activate sunlight. If you want more atmosphere, then adjust the ceiling spotlights, or create indirect lights. Under-unit lights are created in just three clicks!
The image can then be further enhanced through a special preview menu to adjust various properties, such as the brightness and contrast (normally you’d expect to export to a dedicated image editing package to do this).
KD Max allows you to create just the ambiance you require. BACK
How do I establish prices?
On completion of a design there is the option ‘Quotation’, where all components in the design are fully detailed and can be priced in a manner of your choice. The system automatically gives you a schedule of all materials used, the quantity or area, the number of doors, and so on.
The user is able to determine how prices are applied, by linear m or per m2 or per item.
The quotation can also be exported to Excel. BACK
How do I get working drawings?
On completion of a design, there are various options that may be selected for export. KD Max has a comprehensive and integrated CAD program, BTO-CAD, (not unlike AutoCAD) and, via the function ‘Drawing’, you may select various plan drawings, worktop drawing, sections, cross sections, electricity and gas connections, et cetera. These drawings are available in DWG or DXF files. You may amend or annotate these files in BTO-CAD before printing, or even emailing the DWG file of, say, the worktops, directly to your granite supplier.
All your technical specifications are at hand instantly…and BTO-CAD is installed free of charge automatically with KD Max. You can even start BTO-CAD separately from KD Max and, if you are accustomed to using AutoCAD, you will be able to create various complex drawings with BTO-CAD…a very worthwhile cost-saving exercise. How Easy is it to use KD Max?
KD Max has been developed as a selling-tool for everyday use, accordingly, the program has to be suitable for use by all persons involved in the sales process.
This was the starting point for the development of KD Max… and is continuously in mind when improvements are made. Special training is not a prerequisite, although it is assumed the user has some basic knowledge of the computer.
On purchasing KD Max you are provided with ‘Quick Start’ instructions that will guide you through the program swiftly and easily. Very quickly you will see your first kitchen on the screen…and you’ll be surprised by the ease of its utilization. The basic tools are simple and arranged in modules and, after having mastered the basics, your will soon discover the enormously powerful features that enable you to get the best out of the system.
Regular usage is the best method to become proficient in the use of KD Max. BACK
Can I ‘walk-thro’ the kitchen and open doors and drawers?
When creating the kitchen in KD Max, you do so in 3D virtual surroundings and the kitchen can be viewed from any conceivable vantage point. You can open and close drawers and doors and, in many cases, view installed accessories such as wirework. BACK
Can I also design bathrooms?
No. For designing bathrooms, we refer you to our 3D show or Ceramic King. Ceramic King has been developed specifically for designing bathrooms. Within this system you can even compose patterns in tiles and flags. BACK
Can I change colours and how does the system process colours?
Any design can have its colour scheme changed in seconds! This can be by selection of each component or by the application of an existing template; all materials, the door style and colour, shelves, carcass, linear trims, worktops, handles, et cetera can all be changed. A newly created scheme can be saved for future application to other designs.
If the same scheme is frequently applied to various designs, a ‘template’ can easily be created and stored…from that point on, all chosen attributes are a click away, saving a great deal of time when the same ‘range’ is often used.
But, even when a preset template is applied, any single or multiple objects can have the texture changed effortlessly and quickly; so one particular template can be used, for example, with any worktop.
In keeping with other similar programs, colour on screen and as printed may differ widely; KD Max cannot guarantee to colour-match specific products or materials. BACK
Can I customize cabinets and other objects?
KD Max is immensely customizable! All useful elements within the system such as cabinets and doors can be amended and deleted, or handles repositioned. Appliances (such as refrigerators and ovens) can have dimensions changed; as can decorative objects (furniture, pots, pans, flowers).
In short, you have the capability to define the size of an object such as a cabinet in the selection menu and the system will remember the adjusted formats within the working drawing. Frequently used non-standard sizes are easily incorporated into the standard library…Specials are no longer a problem! BACK
Can I draw or scan every room?
After starting KD Max it is possible to draw most conceivable room shapes using templates or free-form drawing. If you have a scanner at your disposal and the layout is complex, you may scan the floor plan of the kitchen and transfer it directly into the system. When this is done, you aid the system to define the vector image of one wall…and the system transfers the rest automatically.
Worthy of note…creating most room shapes is easy and very quick using the free-hand method…and a kitchen with an attached utility room just adds seconds to the time involved. BACK
